We discussed our pre-reflection thoughts and found many commonalities (interest in building confidence and managing a classroom of individuals in both a firm and kind manner, while building trust between teachers and students) We addressed individual interests and concerns as a group. We focused on finding our own "teacher voice" and held discourse about what this means for each of us. We also discussed what makes a "great student teacher." We journaled about these.
We watched a "virtual guest speaker," Christopher Emdin talk about the "magic" a teacher needs to embody to engage students while presenting. He specifically addressed many of the concerns we mentioned in our pre-reflection surveys and literally "set the stage" for our upcoming student teaching experience which we are so very excited to embark upon soon. We identified our on-site placements and talked about the need to look at more than a school report card. As scholars, we are more than just report cards, too! We'll expand upon this during our next meeting. |
